Training as a Counselling or a Psychotherapy student can be challenging at a multi-dimensional level. One has to get on with normal life, and process all the emotions and new-found self-awareness that is rising to surface, whilst doing clinical work and being able to let all the theories and ideas sink in.
It does take a substantial amount of time for the clinical theories to settle down in one’s mind, and then find an expansive space within us from which we can make meaning of our clients’ stories. In this process, all of us need an experienced practitioner who can guide us through the process of making meaning of our clinical work.
My work in helping you with your Case Study or Essays would be as follows:
- To look at the aspects of your clinical work that you are able to make sense of.
- To understand your unique way of working with clients.
- To help you dis-entangle the unconscious processes from what belongs to your clients and what belongs to your personal material or simply your countertransference responses to your clients.
- To help you understand the nature of your therapeutic relationship with your clients, and how that informs the current unconscious processes in therapy.
My primary theoretical orientation in helping you with your written work would be: Relational, Psychodynamic and Trauma Theory. My secondary theoretical approaches would be informed by Jungian theory. I am a UKCP and BACP registered psychotherapist with additional qualifications in Trauma Therapy and Relationship Therapy.
